Pedestrian-Bicycle Crash Analysis

Pedestrian, Bicyclists, and More Oh My....

Did You Know In 2018, Over 20% of persons killed in crashes in the United States were listed as Pedestrians or Bicyclists?

According to NHTSA, it's true.  When you consider that Pedestrians and Bicyclists only account for a small percentage or overall crashes, but such a large percentage of overall fatalities, it highlights the need for skilled, well-trained, and capable pedestrian crash investigators.
You need training delivered to you in an efficient manner that you will benefit from immediately.  We are here to do just that.  We're not interested in pumping you full of pointless work sheets or filler material to take up training hours so we can slap 40 hours on your certificate.

We're interested in helping you learn the ins and outs of pedestrian crash investigation, arm you with the formulas you need to achieve success in your investigation, and preparing you to deliver justice to victims and provide closure to families.

We achieve that by providing you with high-quality training that teaches you technical material in an easy to follow and easy to understand manner.

Do Any of These Sound Like Problems You've Had With Your Pedestrian-Bicycle Crashes?

During this course you will FINALLY learn how to correctly and effectively apply throw distance and other formulas to both pedestrians and bicyclists (even the bike itself).  This course WILL help you CONQUER analyzing a pedestrian or bicycle involved crash and identifying and locating important evidence.  It will also help you figure out what to do when evidence isn't all that apparent or plentiful.  The course was built around the problems from above that sounded familiar:

Bonus #1
Ped-Strike PRO by CTS

To make life a little easier everyone that attends the course receives for FREE (plus one year of maintenance, also for FREE) a license to our Ped Strike PRO Microsoft Excel based software program that will allow you to quickly, and easily, input your crash variables ONE TIME and calculate multiple speed estimates.  You can even print off incredibly professional reports in the click of a button.

 Bonus #2
Comprehensive Course Review

I HATE..... I mean absolutely DESPISE going to a training course, learning a lot of good information, and then forgetting it before I have a chance you use it, and I know you do to.  That's why after you successfully complete the course you will have access to a comprehensive course review where you can refresh yourself on what was learned and even complete a few practice projects to polish up on your skills.
Bonus #3
CRASH Journal

Crash scenes are extremely chaotic and sometimes important details could slip through the cracks, witnesses can wander off, and evidence can be moved.  With the CRASH Journal you will have go-to method to quickly and efficiently record scene details, log personnel at the scene, record quick measurements, obtain witness contact information and more.

Course Agenda

Day 1

In the first day of "Pedestrian-Bicycle Crash Analysis" we are going to have a FULL day of knowledge that will prepare you to conquer your ped-bike scenes.  During Day 1 we are going to break the crash down into 3 small manageable chucks, Pre-Crash (Driver, Pedestrian, Environment, Vehicle), Crash (Scene evidence, area of impact, crash phases, trajectories), and then Post-Crash (Vehicle damage, Injury Investigation).

Day 2

In Day 2 we will DIVE DEEP into the world of calculating speed estimates for pedestrian and bicyclist involved crashes.  We will spend the entire day pouring over around 15 - 20 formulas, explaining the variables needed for each formula, some of their benefits and pitfalls, how to calculate the speed estimate, and we will have plenty of hands-on practice to ensure you can successfully use each formula.

Day 3

In training day 3 we examine all things bicycles, spending time on the types of bicycles you may encounter, their parts and nomenclature, as well as some formulas which are relevant to speed calculations for the bicycle.  Once that is done we move on to everyone's favorite topic, TIME AND DISTANCE *insert spooky noises*.  We will look at some things to consider when working a ped-bike crash as it relates to time and distance and then work through a practical project.

Day 4

In Day 4 you can start to slowly put away the video monitor and start concentrating on a few hands-on portions of the class.  To make sure you are good with your formulas we have several math projects you will complete, which auto-grade and offer instant feedback, and then you will participate in a series of virtual crash testing that will allow you to apply your new knowledge to known speeds.  All the benefits of crash testing without the bad aftertaste of having to help clean up.

Day 5

In the final training day we will call the course a wrap, with the only thing remaining the End of Course Written Examination and Final Course Administrative tasks.  Once you've checked this complete the only thing left to do is play around with your new software once it arrives!

"This was a very good course that provided a lot of information and the way the topics were explained, made it easy to understand and calculate the speeds.."

Police Department and has over 13 years of traffic-related experience.  He has investigated 1,500 crashes and reconstructed numerous crashes involving fatal and great bodily injuries.  He has also spent nearly 4,000 hours teaching collision reconstruction and traffic enforcement related topics to law enforcement and private investigators across the United States.  You may have already had the opportunity to catch him and one of the numerous conferences he has spoken at on the crash and crime scene reconstruction circuit or ready one his articles featured in the "Accident Reconstruction Journal" or "Collision Magazine".  In 2018, he became only the eighth individual in the world to be recognized as a PhotoModeler Ambassador.

If an attendee doesn't achieve a minimum passing score on the final course exam, that does NOT mean that they have failed.  This only means that they have now isolated a few areas they lacked full understanding of.  At CTS we believe that if individuals apply themselves 100% then they can be successful regardless of their formal education or background.  That's why we strive to give our attendees the best chance of overall success in our courses.  If an individual does not score high enough on the final examination, the following occurs:
  • Remedial: They are enrolled in online remedial training on just the topics they are deficient in, at no cost
  • Remedial Testing: They are given a remedial exam in their area(s) of deficiency
  • Course Exam Evaluation: The remedial examination and end of course examination are averaged
  • Course Re-Enrollment: If the remedial examination fails to bring them to a passing score, they are enrolled in the online version of the course, at no cost, and given another opportunity to fully learn and understand the course material.
